Island Health has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Staff Coordinator!

Medical Staff Office:

The MSC assists with maintaining all administrative functions of the Medical Staff Office. Specifically:

  • Track and ensure insurance credentialing are in place in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the management of the Medical Staff office.
  • Coordinates receipt of credentialing and privileging applications following processing and primary source verification; performs review and analysis, identification and follow up of "red flag" items; prepares files for review and recommendation by the medical staff.
  • Schedules, coordinates, prepares agenda, takes minutes, provides follow up for medical staff committees outlined in the entity Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Prepares summary reports of credentialing/privileging recommendations and ensures flow of information and action items for medical staff committees.
  • Assists in coordination, tracking and monitoring of the continuous assessment and Focused Assessment process ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and Medical Staff policies.
  • Assists with clinical privilege development and maintenance of the privilege database.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

        Requirements:

        • 2 years previous hospital experience preferred
        • Familiarity with DNV-GL and CMS standards as it relates to this position
        • Excellent organizational and communication skills
        • Ability to work independently
        • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
        • Word processing/typing skills

        Work Environment:

        While performing the cuties of this position, the employee is exposed to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, and communicable diseases as related to a health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

        Physical Demands:

        While preforming the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, and have hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone. The employee is often required to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; left and/or move up to 25 pounds and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. and reach them with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus sufficient to operate computer systems.
