In this role you will be responsible for:
- Strategic Market Opportunity Analysis:
Own the market intelligence framework to evaluate the commercial potential of nucleic acid-based therapeutics and small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing businesses. Assess market size, growth potential, and key drivers for the industry, including RNA therapeutics, gene editing, and gene therapies.
- Market and Financial Forecasting:
Work closely with the finance and business development teams to model revenue forecasts for near & long term business, market pricing strategies, and potential commercial impact for key technology development projects. Develop financial models to evaluate market potential, risks, and upside across various development areas.
- Investment & Business Strategy Support:
Provide detailed, data-driven analysis to inform investment, licensing, and acquisition decisions. Assess market opportunities, product development timelines, and potential financial returns for in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities in the nucleic acid therapeutics manufacturing sector.
- Industry Trends & Emerging Technologies:
Lead the monitoring and analysis of trends in the broader biotech and healthcare industries, identifying emerging technologies and breakthroughs in gene therapy, RNA therapeutics, and gene editing that may impact the competitive landscape and growth dynamics of our chosen end markets.
- Competitive Landscape & Benchmarking:
Oversee competitive analysis of current and emerging players in the nucleic acid therapeutics manufacturing space. Profile competitor product pipelines, technology strategies, market share, partnerships, and financial strategies. Benchmark the company’s progress relative to competitors and industry standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with R&D, business development, and corporate strategy teams to translate competitive and market insights into business strategies. Support the identification of key strategic initiatives, such as potential partnerships, collaborations, and licensing opportunities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field; MBA, M.Sc. or equivalent advanced degree preferred, with professional experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in business analysis, market research, or competitive intelligence within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
- Strong experience in financial analysis, market opportunity assessment, and/or investment banking, with a strong track record of conducting market research, financial modeling, and competitive benchmarking.
- Familiarity with the nucleic acid therapeutics field (e.g., RNA therapeutics, gene editing, gene therapy) is highly desirable but not required.
Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
- Strong financial modeling / Excel modeling capabilities in forecasting and financial analysis.
- Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI, or financial modeling platforms; knowledge of market research databases (e.g., Global Data, EvaluatePharma, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory and reimbursement landscapes, and how they affect market dynamics for nucleic acid-based therapies.
- Exposure to financial due diligence processes, licensing deals, and/or mergers & acquisitions in the biotech sector, and building business cases to support investments.
