Position Summary:
The Senior Materials Planner is responsible to ensure the seamless and cost-effective flow of domestic materials required for Modula’s manufacturing operations and after market demand. This role involves forecasting material requirements, optimizing inventory levels and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time production and delivery. The Senior Materials Planner serves as a key point of contact between the operations, production, and procurement teams and is required to be on-site five (5) days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and maintain material planning strategies to meet production schedules and after market demand.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and engineering teams to monitor material requirements and avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Analyze material consumption trends, lead times, and supplier data to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Review material requirements planning (MRP) systems, monitoring data integrity and alignment with production schedules.
- Manage inventory levels to optimize working capital while ensuring uninterrupted production.
- Support new product launches by coordinating material availability with engineering change orders.
- Identify and implement process improvements for material inventory.
- Review and assist in inventory cycle counts as well as year-end inventory.
- Resolve material-related issues impacting production and escalate critical risks when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Modula’s quality standards, ISO requirements, and safety policies.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP experience preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and procurement teams.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Just-in-Time (JIT) principles.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- On-time material availability.
- Accuracy of material forecasts.
- Reduction of excess inventory.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with regular interaction on the production floor.
- Occasional extended hours to meet project milestones or customer requirements.
