About the Department
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a person for a part-time position as a Maintenance Technician I based at Kernersville Lake Park. This will be a floating position as well to cover possible vacancies at Walkertown, Union Cross and Belews Lake Parks.
Duties include cleaning restrooms, mulching, cleaning the shelter, rescue boat operation, mowing, mulching, working with the public and performing various projects using a variety of equipment including tractors, blowers and various handheld power tools.
Candidate must be able to work independently and with limited supervision. This position has regular public contact.
Work hours are Monday through Wednesday 8 hours per day. During the winter months Monday and Tuesday 8 hours per day.
Work Schedule:
March - November: Monday - Wednesday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
November - February: Monday, Tuesday 8 hours per day

Position Duties
All applicants should have the following knowledge, skill and abilities:
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to independently adhere to a time schedule.
Ability to maintain order and ensure compliance with rules.
Ability to operate and care for power equipment and hand tools.
Ability to inspect and report needs for repairs.
Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED and one year experience in basic building or grounds maintenance
A valid driver's license is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to safely operate small to medium motorized equipment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for the minimum requirements.
Other Qualifications
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cleaning restrooms and shelters
Mowing, mulching, weeding/spraying, blowing debris and leaves
Trash/litter pick-up
Rescue boat operation
Working with the public
Performing various projects using a variety of equipment including tractors, mowers and various handheld power tools.
Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
