Description

The Department Clerk shall provides administrative and clerical support to the medical business office, ensuring efficient processing of patient records, billing documents, insurance forms, and other financial and operational materials. This position plays a vital role in supporting revenue cycle functions and maintaining accurate documentation and communication within the department.

  • Perform general clerical duties including data entry, filing, scanning, copying, and mail distribution.
  • Prepare, sort, and distribute billing statements, insurance claims,  and payment documentation.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding billing, insurance, or patient accounts.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in electronic health record and billing systems.
  • Support insurance verification, authorizations, and posting of payments as needed.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient and financial information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure workflow continuity.
  • Schedule meetings, maintain department logs, and order office supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or department leadership.

Requirements

Education

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

Minimum: 1-2 years of experience in a medical office, billing, or administrative role.

Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology and basic understanding of revenue cycle or healthcare billing practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment

Physical Demands
