JOB SUMMARY: Provides counseling and behavioral health services for individuals including support group for victims of sexual assault and domestic Violence. Position will split time between the Phoenix and East Valley office with some evening availability.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provides a broad range of counseling services including intake, assessment, development and implementation of treatment plans for individuals. Ensures services are clinically appropriate, providing services that are outpatient or home based.
- May perform duties such as the collection of fees, scheduling of appointments as needed to ensure smooth operation of department.
- Provides workshops, seminars and/or psycho-educational group sessions on a particular subject to assist clients in their adjustment to society and to enable them to function more adequately in their everyday living.
- Recruits, trains, coordinates and supervises activities of master’s level student interns. Assigns and monitors caseloads and counseling methods of the interns supervised.
- Opens, compiles, and maintains complete and accurate case records according to best practices, agency and professional standards.
- Coordinates clinical care with appropriate internal and external agency personnel including supervisor, primary care physician, referral sources, etc. consults with referral sources to gather information to assist in client referral and expectations. Works with supervisor (or other credentialed professional) in consultation to ensure appropriate diagnosis and treatment is given to each client.
- Maintains accurate record of all client contacts, including monthly statistical reports, units of service and other data or reports requested or required.
- Maintains strict confidentiality at all times regarding client information so as not to violate professional codes of ethics.
- Manages caseload to meet agency productivity requirements. Follows up with new/continuing clients regarding missed appointments.
- Keeps informed of new, innovative ideas to facilitate program development, assumes responsibility for professional growth.
- Assumes the responsibility for the development of the referral base for the counseling program within locations assigned by supervisor by engaging in public speaking in a broad variety of venues as well as distribution of brochures to community resources. May represent department to civic and church communities through speaking assignments, community meetings, etc.
- Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Education /Background: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field from accredited university. Minimum 2 years post Master’s outpatient counseling and behavioral health experience preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Master of Social Work preferred. If not currently holding a valid Associate License (LMSW, LAC) or professional License (LCSW, LPC ), employee must apply for licensure within 90 days of employment and must pass qualifying national counselors’ examination. Employee is required to obtain licensure from Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) after submittal of application and successfully passing the examinations. Bilingual preferred.
- Job Knowledge: Must have knowledge of ethical practice, clinical assessment, DSM diagnosis, co- occurring disorders, treatment planning, strength based assessments, solution focused treatment modalities, domestic violence issues, quality management systems and case record documentation. Must have knowledge of the tenets of cultural competence, family systems, human development, human delivery theories and methods, legal requirements concerning physical and sexual abuse, crisis intervention methods and community resources and referral procedures. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the agency and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Outlook).
- Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with moderate interruptions. Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Primarily office work, travel within area on a frequent basis, travel to other areas of state as needed. Evening and weekend hours required as needed. Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with clients to ensure their safety and wellbeing. May lift up to 25 pounds.
- Other requirements:
- Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
- Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.
- Must possess Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health license at a master’s degree level OR obtain associate level licensure within one year from date of hire.
- You must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.
Starting rate for an Unlicensed Professional $28.52/hour and may increase depending on experience.
Starting salary for an Associate Licensed Professional $65k and may increase depending on experience.
Starting salary for an Independent Licensed Professional $70k and may increase depending on experience.
