Job Purpose:

To lead by example in the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations, working hands-on with the team to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of goods. The Warehouse Team Leader supports the Warehouse Supervisor by overseeing operatives, maintaining workflow, and stepping up to cover supervisory duties when required.

 

What You’ll Do:

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring team members follow health and safety procedures
  • Conduct basic safety checks and report hazards or incidents promptly
  • Support the Warehouse Supervisor in maintaining compliance with safety standards and procedures
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure the warehouse is clean, organised, and audit-ready
  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation and system updates related to stock movement and order fulfilment

Operational Oversight

  • Provide daily direction, supervision and support to Warehouse Operatives, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently
  • Actively participate in all warehouse functions including goods-in, putaway, picking, packing, and despatch
  • Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and in line with standard operating procedures
  • Assist with training new team members and supporting ongoing development of operatives

People Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for operational queries and escalate issues to the Warehouse Supervisor as needed
  • Support the Warehouse Supervisor in monitoring team performance and maintaining high standards of conduct and productivity
  • Step up to cover Warehouse Supervisor responsibilities during periods of absence or as delegated

 

Who You Are:

Essential:

  • Experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally in a senior operative or team leader role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example in a hands-on environment
  • Good understanding of warehouse processes and health & safety practices
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work
  • Basic IT skills and familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)

Desirable:

  • Experience in industries involving boilers, air conditioning, heat pumps, solar, or EV charging products
  • Recognised health and safety training (e.g., manual handling, IOSH Working Safely)
  • Forklift license or experience with material handling equipment (MHE)
