We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially savvy Finance Analyst with ocean freight experience to join our Singapore Finance team, supporting the Head of Global Shipping. This role is ideal for a finance professional who understands the complexities of international shipping and freight cost structures, and can translate operational data into strategic financial insights.

You will play a key role in analysing shipping costs, supporting tender processes, and partnering with regional teams to drive cost efficiency and performance across our global supply chain.

About the Role!

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with the Global Shipping Manager to define tender objectives and ensure financial alignment with business strategy.
  • Analyse freight bids and cost structures, ensuring all financial impacts are accurately captured and communicated.
  • Lead post-tender communications with regional stakeholders (GMs & CFOs), ensuring clarity on cost implications and business impact.
  • Monitor and analyse ocean freight costs, carrier rates, and shipping performance to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support the development of strategies to optimize shipping routes, schedules, and carrier selection for improved service and cost efficiency.
  • Enhance tracking and reporting of key shipping metrics such as transit times, carrier performance, and shipment accuracy.
  • Own the budgeting and forecasting process for shipping operations, aligning assumptions with cross-functional teams and delivering insights to regional finance teams.
  • Identify and assess risks related to shipping delays, cost fluctuations, and geopolitical factors, and support mitigation planning
  • Provide variance analysis (actuals vs. plan) with clear commentary and driver-based insights for finance and operational stakeholders.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in finance roles within ocean freight, shipping, or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of freight cost structures, Incoterms, customs regulations, and international shipping practices.
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience in Excel, data modelling, and working with large datasets.
  • Experience with SAP or Tier 1 ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with shipping and logistics management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities.
