About the role
We’re looking for an Underwriting Assistant to support MS Re underwriters on complex business, mainly in Engineering and International Casualty as well as programs with EMEA Group Clients. In this role, you’ll provide technical assistance and underwriting support for both new and renewal P&C treaty reinsurance business. You’ll work closely with a team of underwriters and collaborate with various internal stakeholders to manage a range of administrative and technical tasks. You’ll also liaise directly with brokers and clients to ensure smooth communication and accurate processing. Your responsibilities

• Register all relevant data from reinsurance policies, endorsements, submissions, acceptances, and declinations in internal systems (SICS and MS Re proprietary).
• Maintain an organized filing system and manage all policy-related admin tasks, including time-sensitive actions.
• Prepare renewal information in the systems to support underwriters and actuaries in their risk assessments.
• Collaborate with underwriters and teams across Operations, Technical Accounting, Claims Management, and other functions to ensure timely service.
• Review contract wordings, identify changes from previous years, and check compliance with internal guidelines.
• Support market research, client analysis, and help prepare strategy documents.
• Capture key data such as exposure accumulation and client insights; contribute to improving tools and processes.
• Prepare materials and briefings for client and broker meetings; assist with organizing meetings and events.
• Communicate with brokers and clients throughout the underwriting process; attend external meetings and calls as needed.
• Create system-generated and custom reports, as well as presentations for internal and external use.
• Participate in regular team meetings and collaborate with other underwriting teams and departments.
• Support ongoing activities and contribute to special projects when required.

Your profile

• You have experience in a similar role within an international insurance setting; P&C reinsurance experience is a strong asset.
• You understand re/insurance contracts and wordings; knowledge of P&C pricing methods is a plus.
• You bring a positive, open-minded attitude and enjoy contributing to a strong team spirit.
• You think critically, solve problems efficiently, and have strong analytical skills.
• You’re organized, detail-oriented, diligent and able to stay focused under pressure.
• Fluent in English and have strong skills in at least one other European language; more languages are a plus.
• You’re prepared to work extended hours during peak periods, such as around 1/1 renewals.
• Working towards an industry certification or university degree—preferred but not required.
