Allient is currently seeking a motivated and highly skilled Test Engineer for electric motors (particularly, Permanent Magnets Synchronous Motors) to join our team in Vila do Conde, Portugal! Responsibilities:
- Design and execute test procedures for PMSM motors and integrated controllers.
- Develop automated and manual test setups, including fixtures and measurement systems;
- Analyze motor performance (torque, speed, efficiency, thermal behavior) and ensure compliance with product requirements;
- Support the characterization of motors during development and production phases.
- Collaborate with R&D in defining testing criteria for new product introductions.
- Document test results, write technical reports and support root cause investigations;
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies and equipment;
- Support production and quality teams with motor-related technical issues;
- Work cross-functionally with electronics, mechanical, and firmware teams.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Electronics/Electrotechnical Engineering (or similar).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Test, Product, or Process Engineering or similar role in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Solid interpretation of electronics schematics and circuit design tools.
- Familiarity with motor control principles, power inverter electronics, and sensor systems (e.g., Hall, encoder).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, dynamometers, etc.
- Understanding of signal acquisition, data processing (FFT, iFFT), and motor characterization.
- Solid knowledge of programming tools like LabVIEW, C, C-Sharp, Python, Visual Basic;
- Strong knowledge of data processing and databases tools (SQL, MS-ACCESS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with PLCs and Automated Manufacturing Systems is highly valued.
- Knowledge of LASER technology and its application in direct part marking.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Availability for occasional travel within Europe.
