The Harness Technician is responsible for the assembly and repair of electrical wiring harnesses. The role includes working with production teams, ensuring the highest quality standards are met, and supporting the manufacturing process from start to finish, contributing to the timely delivery of harness systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Harness Technicians and Team leader in the daily operations of the harness workshop.
- Assemble and produce complex, first time builds, prototypes and series production electrical wiring harnesses to meet production targets and schedules, ensuring all harnesses meet the required technical specifications.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Identify and repair faults in harnesses, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Support senior technicians in electrical testing processes, including continuity checks and insulation resistance tests using Cirris testing equipment.
- Report any shortages of materials or components in a timely manner to prevent production delays.
- Identify and suggest improvements to existing harness manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline the harness production process, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.
- Fulfil any duties required by the company to ensure that high-quality harnesses are produced and delivered on time and in full. This includes adhering to production schedules, meeting quality control standards, and collaborating with other teams to prevent delays in the manufacturing process.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, stores, and quality control to ensure alignment on production priorities and resolve any issues that may arise during assembly or testing.
- Provide feedback to the design and engineering teams on harness designs to improve manufacturability.
- Ensure continuity in meeting agreed deadlines through flexible working patterns, adapting work hours as required by production demands, while maintaining a balance between efficiency and quality in harness production.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide guidance and advice to trainee technicians.
