The OpportunityWe are looking for a proactive and organised Administrator to join our team at Blackpool Zoo. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who prefers a behind-the scenes role where their organisational skills make a real difference. You’ll be at the heart of the zoo’s daily operations, providing reliable administrative support across a range of areas.
While the focus of the role is general administration, you will support tasks connected to our people processes, such as coordinating the onboarding of new starters, setting up personnel files, updating HR systems and ensuring all employee records are accurate and securely maintained.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Your Role in the Team
- Provide general administrative support, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Maintain and update internal systems and records, ensuring information is accurate, well-organised and accessible
- Support the coordination of meetings, staff training sessions, and internal communications
- Assist with processes linked to welcoming new team members, such as preparing induction materials and arranging access to systems or equipment
- Help to keep employee and volunteer information up to date and handled confidentially, in line with data protection requirements
- Produces documents, letters, and reports as needed, and respond to routine queries via email, phone, and face-to-face
- Monitor and order supplies related to people processes, such as uniforms, ID badges, and induction materials
- Liaise with internal colleagues and external contacts, including service providers and suppliers, to support day-to-day activities
- Support the wider team with general admin tasks and ad hoc projects as required
About You
Must – Have
- Previous experience in an administrative role
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Forms, Outlook, Power BI)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage time and tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Positive, can-do attitude and a team player
- Discreet and professional, especially when handling confidential information
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in a visitor attraction or public-facing environment
- Experience using HR or other record-keeping systems (e.g. Workday, Sage or similar)
- Understanding of people-related processes such as onboarding, induction and maintaining employee records.
- Knowledge of GDPR principles as they relate to employee data
