We are looking for a Junior Underwriter in Onshore Renewables, based in London, as part of the Global Natural Resources team.  

  

Your Team 

Our Underwriting team is responsible for reviewing and approving insurance risks within their area of expertise. Each team member has the authority to make decisions and works closely with other departments to make sure policies are processed correctly and on time. They also build strong relationships with brokers, acting as trusted partners and helping them find the best solutions for their clients. It’s a collaborative, fast-moving team where you’ll be supported to grow, take ownership of your work, and make a real impact. The Impact You Will Have  
As a key member of the team, you will take ownership of the underwriting process within your area of expertise, using your authority to make sound, independent decisions. Your work will directly contribute to the profitability and efficiency of the business by ensuring that policies are reviewed, priced, and issued accurately and on time. You will collaborate with other departments to support smooth operations and maintain high service standards. By building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, you’ll play a vital role in strengthening our market presence and delivering tailored solutions to meet client needs 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • You will underwrite new and renewal accounts within your authority to meet profitability and growth targets. 

  • You will support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing clients through effective negotiations and strategy alignment. 

  • You will prepare underwriting information, including market research and claims data, to support decision-making. 

  • You will assist in evaluating Natural Catastrophe exposures and pricing risks using global tools. 

  • You will ensure underwriting activities comply with internal guidelines, governance frameworks, and authority levels. 

  • You will support contract certainty and facilitate the binding of reinsurance prior to policy inception. 

  • You will maintain accurate and complete policy documentation, ensuring timely issuance and administration of insurance programs. 

  • You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate premium booking and help resolve account queries. 

  • You will build and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to drive success. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role  

  • You have a degree in Economics, Law, or a related field, or are working towards a professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII). 

  • You have a basic understanding of insurance products and portfolios, ideally within Allianz Commercial or a similar environment. 

  • You have experience or familiarity with working in complex, global, or matrix organizations. 

  • You have a good understanding of the local and regional insurance markets and the competitive landscape. 

  • You have a basic knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework relevant to the insurance industry. 

  • You have the ability to assess risks, exposures, and natural hazards relevant to the line of business. 

  • You have experience or interest in drafting and interpreting insurance contracts and policy wordings. 

  • You have a good understanding of the policy administration lifecycle, including premium bookings and credit control. 

  • You have strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas and draw sound conclusions from data. 

  • You have a willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.
