The Architect / Design Technologist supports the intersection of architectural design and technology implementation across all phases of the architectural project development. This role combines traditional architectural responsibilities with the exploration in the application of digital tools, workflows, and automation strategies to improve project delivery. The position requires architectural production skills, cross-disciplinary coordination experience, and proficiency in design platforms including Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, as well as custom digital automation development. This individual works under the supervision of the Director of Project Delivery and collaborates with project teams, to create, test, and apply scalable digital solutions. The role also supports larger firmwide initiatives related to digital transformation and performance-driven design.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support architectural design in the application of BIM, parametric modeling, and visualization tools to enhance design output.
- Generate 3D models and interior layouts for commercial and institutional buildings using BIM platforms.
- Assist in the capture of physical architectural assets using Lidar scanning tools.
- Assist in the development of 3D models for commercial buildings using point cloud lidar scan data.
- Assist in developing architectural code research and technical reviews to assess design feasibility, compliance, and constructability by integrating advanced digital workflows.
- Assist in the development of architectural construction documents using BIM tools, by integrating advanced digital workflows.
- Analyze and document current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements through digital process mapping.
- Assist in develop custom Revit Add-ins using Python and C# to support automation.
- Assist in the rollout of digital tools and design applications across project teams
- Assist in strategic planning and execution of firmwide initiatives tied to the Design Technology roadmap.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of digital standards, best practices, and workflows.
- Leverage design data for analysis, optimization, and simulation studies to support performance-driven and early-stage design decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Architectural firm, including experience in architectural design software including Revit, Rhino, and visualization platforms
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python and C# applied in an AEC context (e.g., Revit API, Dynamo)
- Experience with architectural documentation workflows, consultant coordination, and code research
- Experience developing or maintaining digital tools, plugins, or content libraries for project delivery
