SALARY:  The salary range for this position is $41,400.00 to $59,496.80 for Schedule A, and $41,400.00 to $53,263.03 for Schedule B.  For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Union Vicinage is seeking a team-oriented individual with great customer service skills to join the Operations Division. Under the direction of the Operations Division Manager (Court Executive 2B) and the direct supervision of the Assistant Operations Division Manager (Court Executive 1B) this individual may occasionally operate a passenger vehicle or van to deliver mail, transport supplies and equipment, and perform other related duties as directed by a supervisor or manager.


REMOTE WORKThe Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Position Duties

  • Sort, collect, organize, route and distribute mail, cards, letters, material, and packages and/or office supplies
  • Operation of automobiles, light duty trucks, vans or other motor vehicles is required
  • Make mail pickup and delivery runs including between buildings and other offsite locations (distance of approximately 30 miles roundtrip, with occasional longer trips)
  • Accept deliveries from express carriers, couriers, vendors, etc.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to supervisors
  • Lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
  • Stoop, climb, bend and stretch to reach job-related materials
  • Use hand truck or cart to move boxes and equipment from location to location
  • Operate photocopying and scanning machine
  • Answer telephones
  • Basic keyboarding skills, able to reply to email correspondence. Able to accurately record work time in electronic timekeeping system
  • Answer routine questions
  • Participate in team/work unit meetings
  • Provide cross-training to co-workers (i.e., demonstrate to other staff how you perform your work)
  • Display a high level of effort and commitment towards performing work
  • Compute simple numerical data
  • Present self and work product in a professional manner
  • Provide quality customer service to court users and/or internal customers
  • Check condition of fleet vehicles and see they are properly serviced and maintained in good operating condition
  • Keep motor vehicles supplied with gas, oil, water and emergency supplies
  • Secure (obtain) titles, registrations and insurance cards for fleet vehicles
  • Perform other related duties as required
Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of New Jersey and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Note:

Testing:
Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below.

The appointing authority administered examination is waived for the following applicants who have been deemed to possess keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of 25 words per minute:
  • All applicants who possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission or the New Jersey Judiciary.
  • Judiciary staff that have permanent status in a career service title requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
  • Judiciary staff in unclassified titles requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.

Other Qualifications

Physical Ability: For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching.  The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

Driver's License:  Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey as operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work:  US citizenship is not required.  Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note:  Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.  All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law:  In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
