The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll and benefits administration for approximately 200 team members at Hope Media Group. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and internal policies while serving as a key liaison to team members for payroll and benefit- related matters. The ideal incumbent will be highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-centric, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, and be highly proficient with Paylocity or similar systems to manage payroll and HRIS tasks. This position supports our ministry’s mission by stewarding payroll and benefits with excellence and compassion, caring well for our team members while maintaining the highest standards of integrity.


Essential Functions


Payroll Processing & Compliance:

  • Process biweekly, multi-state payroll using Paylocity, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit contributions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state payroll laws.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement benefits.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and open enrollment.
  • Process and track leave management related to paid time off, STD, LTD, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, etc.
  • Coordinate with brokers, vendors, and carriers as needed.

Data Integrity & Reporting:

  • Maintain and update payroll and HRIS data, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and confidential.
  • Perform audits and reconciliations related to payroll and benefits.

Team Collaboration & Projects:

  • Partner with HR and Finance & Accounting teams on process improvements, compliance reporting, and benefit plan communications.
  • Support annual audits and benefit renewals.

  • Comfortable praying for co-workers in team meetings, leading spoken prayer, and participating in ministry prayer meetings and Bible studies.
  • Lives by the Christian principles defined by the Ministry Statement of Faith.
  • Participates in on-air fundraisers and prays for donors as needed.
  • Has a passion for leveraging the platform of radio for evangelism and discipleship.
  • Exhibits a strong moral character.
  • Is an active member of a Bible believing local church.


Requirements

Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or a related field strongly preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • One or more relevant certifications such as CPP, CBP, CEBS, HRCI or SHRM is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll and working with Paylocity or related systems strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Heart for Christian ministry
  • Strong moral character
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
  • Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church

  • None

Nights/Weekends/Holidays:

  • Occasional nights or weekends during special events, Support Drives, or other company-sponsored events.
