Job Summary
The Diet Office Aide is assigned to the call center / diet office, responding to calls, orders from unit staff and / or patients regarding menu selection and in between meal orders for those on general or complex diets, evaluating appropriateness of food items requested and determining if okay to provide based in diet order restrictions and food allergies. The Diet Aide assures all food items provided are complying to diet orders restriction’s, food allergies and meets patient satisfaction. The Diet Aide may visit patients or communicate with nursing staff to assure proper follow up on any concerns. The Diet Aide attends clinical nutrition meetings, in-services, and area specific meetings.Pay Range
Minimum $22.00 Midpoint $22.00 Maximum $23.00Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
* Required: Minimum one (1) year of food service experience in healthcare.
* Preferred: Two years of healthcare call center / diet office experience.
Education
* Required: High School Diploma GED or equivalent.
* Preferred: Associate's degree, Diet Aide experience.
Special Skills
* Required: Knowledge of nutrition food values, meal planning and therapeutic menu processes. Able to operate computer programs, calculator and copy machine. Customer service telephone skills. General kitchen knowledge in food safety, sanitation, and production. Ability to read: write legibly; communicate fluently in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and / or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Ability to follow oral/written instructions: recall information with accuracy. Ability to pay attention to detail, hear sufficiently for general conversation on the phone; problem solve. Ability to see adequately to read computer screens and written documents. Ability to organize time; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s mission; understand and exceed customer expectations. Simple math skills. Willingness to be cross trained within the Food Service Department.
Licensure
* Required: None.
* Preferred: Serv-Safe certification.
