Under the general direction of the Cost Accounting Manager, performs a multi functional role that includes responsibility for monitoring, reconciling and maintaining account balance integrity for department. To identify and resolve issues that arise in the Meijer Cost Systems and Databases. Participates in corporate cross-functional meetings that pertain to such accounts. Also plays a diversified part in providing support and back up for all departmental management responsibilities including departmental innovations, corporate projects and financial reporting.


 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Using various edit reports to research potential issues in the cost accounting system (MPRS)

  • Suggests changes to established procedures and processes when trends in exceptions reports are identified and system changes are implemented.

  • Determine correction necessary by reviewing purchase orders received, invoices, receiving recaps, etc.

  • Verify balance on hand at DF’s and stores, determine if corrections are needed, and post.

  • Calculate and record the Meijer Average Cost adjustment and determine when to post to MPRS only and when to record in GL as well.

  • Manage suspense account within SAP

  • Periodically creates JV accounting entries at period end as required.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Accounting degree or related curriculum.

  • Understand of SAP system general ledger system

  • Analytical abilities are sufficient to gather and interpret data for the solution of relatively complex problems

  • Good working knowledge of various Company accounting, receiving, and inventory systems

  • Communication skills are sufficient to resolve cross functional business issues.

  • Ability to become proficient utilizing various software packages including Microsoft Office products, query tools, general ledger, and other Meijer specific applications.

  • 1- 2 years of job training and experience.
