Salary Range: $225000 - $400000 Per Year

Job Summary: This position is located in Tulsa, OK.

Major Duties:

  • Duties: Evaluate, diagnose, perform podiatric history and physical exams, correct or treat various conditions, illnesses, and injuries of the feet. Order laboratory test, appropriate consultations, special and diagnostic studies, x-rays, nuclear medicine bone scans, DEXA scans, CT scans, MRI, apply and order prosthetics and orthotics Prescribe appropriate drugs and medications (adheres to VA policy and is in accordance with: VA Formulary and State regulations) and utilize local anesthetics and other appropriate injectables in the inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, operating room and emergency care unit. Debridement of superficial ulcer or wound of foot and leg, incision and drainage of foot and leg, deep and superficial, surgical management of osteomyelitis of phalanges and metatarsals. Partial and complete digital amputation. Digital surgery (lesser toe or hallux) ostectomy, or resection of phalanges, arthrodesis or arthroplasty with or without implants of phalanges. First Ray Surgery to include open/closed reduction of fracture, arthrodesis of forefoot joints, excision of bone cyst, metatarsals, bunionectomy with or without osteotomy, complete or partial excision of metatarsal head, excision of accessory bone, sesamoidectomy, resection of metatarsals in the operating room. Matrixectomy (partial or complete). Nail avulsion (partial or complete). Osseous forefoot surgery, management of. Perform common surgical procedures on the forefoot, consistent with their training as in the outpatient clinic under local anesthesia. Perform regional nerve blocks in the foot and ankle with foot procedures with or without "MAC" anesthesia care. Simple laceration, repair of skin lesions, excision, or destruction of (including skin biopsy & laser procedures). Soft tissue foot surgery to include removal of foreign body, digital syndactylism and desyndactylization, plastic revisions, neurectomy, tenectomy, capsulotomy, tendon procedures-transfers, lengthening including the tendo-achillesgastrocnemius complex, repair, excision of cyst (ganglion) or mass, biopsies. Bone biopsy VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Work Schedule: 730-4pm Monday thru Friday

Qualifications: Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds; Moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds; Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (6hrs); Standing (6hrs); Repeated bending (2-4hrs); Both eyes required; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted); Mental/ Emotional Stability; Ability to perform privileges Independently perform physical exam; Cognitive Stability.
