Summary Of Company:

Southwest Shipyard, LP provides gas freeing and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, Barge and boat repair, Surface preparation and painting, water treatment and new construction services to the commercial and government marine industry. Southwest Shipyard owns and operates four (4) shipyards in South Texas with direct deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Job Summary:

Maintain the front gate and ensure all visitors, deliveries, applicants, barge reps, and contractors are signed-in and directed to the proper Shipyard Representative.

 

Work Schedule: 

All employees are required to have regular attendance and punctuality. 

Day Shift

Houston, Tx 77012

 

Responsibilities:

  • Protect the property and all personnel and ensure against equipment, tools and general property damage or loss.
  • Conduct random searches of vehicles and employees entering or exiting the Shipyard.
  • Maintain emergency procedures, as defined in the post orders
  • Conduct hourly patrols ensuring all critical areas are locked.
  • Keep daily activity reports (DAR’s)
  • Avoid against any unnecessary loitering.
  • Make sure all new entries to the Shipyard have read, understood, and signed Southwest Shipyard, L.P. procedures and dust mask policy form.
  • Ensure all speed limits are observed and adhered to.
  • Man the company radio at all times
  • Inform essential personnel of any regulator agencies attempting to enter the yard, as defined in the post orders.
  • Report any incidents on a “incident report” form and contact the proper Shipyard personnel and or authorities

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient in English.
  • Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Southwest Shipyard, L.P. security guard must be able to pass a company physical, read, write English, and fully understand the “post orders”.
  • Must be clean-shaven and have an over-all clean appearance.
  • Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol tests during employment.

Education: 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 

 

Work Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of previous experience.

 

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. 

 

In addition, the Employee must also be capable of: 

 

  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another. 
  • Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time. 
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work. 
  • This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. 

 

The Company expects and requires all employees to observe and fulfill all safety responsibilities as outlined in workplace safety training and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Regular attendance and punctuality are required of all employees.
