Super is one of the largest sports betting operators in Europe, now expanding into Brazil and managing 1,000+ location networks across multiple geographies — processing over 90 million bets per month. Based out of our Madrid offices with full flexibility and occasional in-person collaboration with teams in London, Zagreb, and beyond, this Senior Software Engineer role sits at the heart of the cloud-native infrastructure that powers this scale.
What the role involves
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to design and implement scalable, robust software solutions
- Enhance the existing platform to increase business functionality driven by end-user configuration
- Maintain, enhance, and create shared platform components and libraries (AWS, Erlang, Go, Kafka)
- Build on the cloud-native platform to accelerate delivery, scale, and resiliency through greater use of AWS technology
- Improve system automation including scaling, resiliency, and deployment pipelines
- Extend observability tooling and infrastructure to deepen understanding of system capabilities
- Lead initiatives end-to-end, driving them to completion whilst championing continuous improvement across team productivity and engineering practices
- Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and shape requirements across the platform
What we are looking for
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale production environment
- Experience engineering high-quality, highly scalable software in an object-oriented or functional language
- Experience working with distributed systems
- Experience building and improving observability
- A talent for clean coding, simple solutions, automated testing, and continuous deployment
- A passion for cloud and automation-driven development
- A willingness to learn new technologies
- A passion for creating user-centric, data-driven solutions
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS services (CloudFormation, MSK, S3, Cognito, etc.)
- Knowledge of Kafka, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Interest in functional programming
- Front-end development experience in modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, React, Angular, etc.)
