About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and strategic QA leader who is hands on for the quality assurance efforts at Litmus GCC. As QA Team Lead, you will be hands on with the products in terms of testing, oversee testing teams, and ensure our industrial edge computing platform meets the highest quality standards. This role requires deep expertise in Linux, microservices architecture, test automation frameworks like playwright, and industrial software domain knowledge.
You will be responsible for evolving and maintain our playwright testing framework to maintain and support our comprehensive API and UI testing, graphql validation, and multi-brand edge device testing. Your role includes driving innovation in testing methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and adopting cutting-edge technologies—including AI—to remain ahead of industry trends.
This position requires a leader who can balance technical excellence with strategic thinking, capable of scaling QA operations while maintaining the rigorous quality standards essential for industrial automation and edge computing platforms deployed in manufacturing environments worldwide.
Role's Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement a strategic QA vision that aligns with business goals, balancing speed, quality, and innovation in the industrial IoT/edge computing domain
- Lead multiple QA teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time with the highest quality standards across API, UI, integration, soak, performance testing.
- Establish and maintain metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of QA efforts and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Hands on with the product and engineering mindset to solve any challenging problems with a proper SDLC in place.
Test Automation Framework Excellence
- Maintain and update playwright with proper reporting for stake holders
- Architect and implement advanced test automation strategies encompassing graphql API, SSH-based testing, browser automation, load testing, performance testing, soak testing.
- Design and optimize test frameworks for industrial protocols OPC UA, MQTT,Modbus, Bacnet, Ethernet I/P and edge computing services
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across 6+ OEM brands (Litmus, Belden, Emerson, Parker, Google Factory Connect, SLB) and multiple platform variants (VMware, Azure, Docker, k8s)
- Drive adoption JSON schema validation, and API specification validation, SDK testing
Technical Innovation & AI Integration
- Evaluate and implement the latest QA technologies, with a strong focus on AI-driven testing solutions to improve productivity, accuracy, and test intelligence
- Research and adopt machine learning approaches for test selection, failure prediction, and anomaly detection in industrial edge systems
- Implement intelligent test orchestration using tag-based filtering, version awareness, and dynamic test plan generation
- Explore AI-powered visual testing, log analysis, and performance monitoring for edge devices
CI/CD & DevOps Integration
- Own and optimize the GitLab CI/CD pipeline for continuous testing across multiple test types and environments
- Integrate automated tests seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines with container-based execution (Docker/Podman)
- Manage test reporting infrastructure including Jira, and Slack integrations
- Identify evaluate the best tools for QA test reporting, test case management etc
- Ensure efficient parallel test execution, failure analysis, and automatic issue tracking
Industrial Software Domain Expertise
- Apply expertise in the industrial software domain to establish rigorous quality processes for edge computing platforms
- Ensure system reliability and scalability for resource-constrained industrial devices deployed in manufacturing environments
- Validate industrial systems like SCADA, DCS, PLC etc
- Oversee testing of high-frequency data collected from industrial system and send to cloud using various IIOT protocol like AMQP, REST, MQTT, Kafka etc
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Collaborate closely with product management, Engineeing, and DevOps teams to ensure QA is an integral part of the development lifecycle
- Build and mentor a world-class QA team, providing ongoing support, training, and development opportunities
- Foster a culture of quality ownership across engineering teams through documentation, best practices, and knowledge sharing
- Proactively research and share new technologies, tools, and methodologies to maintain a state-of-the-art QA environment
Role's Desired Qualifications
Experience & Leadership
- 8+ years of QA experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven ability to scale QA teams, implement enterprise-level strategies, and drive innovation in complex software systems
- Demonstrated success in leading distributed QA teams in fast-paced, agile development environments
- Experience with industrial software, edge computing, IoT platforms, or embedded systems is highly preferred
Technical Expertise
- Deep expertise Playwright, with experience in scripting language like python, java scripts etc
- Strong proficiency with linux
- Advanced knowledge of API testing (Grapql,WebSocket) and protocol validation
- Experience with Node.js, JavaScript (ES2023+), async/await patterns, and modern module systems
- Expertise in test automation frameworks, design patterns (Page Object Model), and testing best practices
Tools & Technologies
- Strong knowledge of QA tools, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Podman) and orchestration for test environments
- Proficiency with test management systems ( X-Ray,Zephyr, qTest) and issue tracking (Jira)
- Knowledge of protocol testing tools for industrial systems (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus)
- Experience with SSH/CLI automation, Linux system administration, and shell scripting
AI & Innovation
- Advanced understanding of AI-driven testing tools and methodologies, with a record of implementing such solutions
- Experience with machine learning for test optimization, intelligent test selection, or predictive analytics
- Knowledge of AI-powered tools for visual testing, log analysis, or anomaly detection
- Forward-thinking approach to evaluating and adopting emerging testing technologies
Quality & Process
- Demonstrated expertise in the industrial software domain, applying domain-specific testing standards and practices
- Strong understanding of security testing, performance testing, and reliability engineering
- Experience with test data management, environment provisioning, and test infrastructure management
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for industrial systems (FDA, IEC 62443, ISO standards)
Communication & Collaboration
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a track record of building high-performing QA teams
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive quality initiatives across engineering and product organizations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB Advanced or Expert levels) and a commitment to continuous learning
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience with industrial edge computing, IIoT platforms, or manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Hands-on experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and microservices testing
- Background in testing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with OEM branding and customization
- Knowledge of industrial protocols: OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, EtherNet/IP
- Experience with license server testing, offline activation, and entitlement validation
- Contributions to open-source testing frameworks or tools
