Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated DevOps Team Lead with a focus on CI/CD to join our Technology Department.

We are open to hiring this role in Berlin, Germany.

As the DevOps CI/CD Team Lead, you will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers dedicated to designing, maintaining, and optimizing our continuous integration and delivery pipelines. Your mission is to ensure deployments are fast, secure, reliable, and scalable across multiple environments.

This role combines technical leadership, hands-on implementation, strategic vision, driving automation and best practices that enable seamless software delivery for global-scale telecom and digital services.

You will define standards for pipeline architecture, deployment safety, and observability, lead initiatives to improve developer experience and internal tooling, and ensure smooth, efficient delivery workflows across regions and platforms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the evolution and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient deployment workflows.
  • Champion developer experience by improving internal tooling, automation, and processes that enhance productivity and reduce friction.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and deployment safety mechanisms (e.g., canary releases, blue-green).
  • Conduct code reviews for infrastructure and automation scripts, providing constructive feedback to maintain high standards of reliability, security, and maintainability.
  • Oversee observability systems and ensure actionable insights for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Thanos).
  • Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and security teams to ensure platform reliability, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational workflows, reduce toil, and raise engineering standards across the team.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks for internal tools and infrastructure components.

Requirements

Must Have

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Systems Engineering roles, including 2+ years in a leadership position.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor engineers, fostering growth, engagement, and technical excellence.
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and optimization, including deployment safety and automation best practices.
  • Experience improving developer experience through internal tooling and workflow enhancements.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (Terraform) and configuration management (Ansible).
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Thanos) and performance monitoring principles.
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows and tools (Argo CD, Crossplane).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and ability to lead during incidents.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, security, and product teams.


Nice to Have

  • Exposure to multi-region or multi-cloud environments and resilience testing practices.
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization frameworks.
  • Familiarity with compliance and governance standards (ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-53).
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA/CKAD, or Terraform Associate.
