Description

The role of the DevOps Engineer AWS is to bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring efficient, reliable, and secure software delivery. By focusing on automation, scalability, and continuous improvement, you will enable Unilode’s IT transformation and enhance the organisation's operational capabilities in the aviation industry. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Manage CI/CD Pipelines:

Drive Results, Process Management, Quality Delivery

  • Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated software build, testing, and deployment processes. 
  • Ensure seamless integration with version control systems like Git to enhance collaboration and repository management. 
  • Implement tagging strategies and cost allocation models for accurate reporting. 

Optimise Infrastructure and Application Deployment:

Problem Solving, Customer Focus, Financial Acumen

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform to provision and manage resources. 
  • Oversee application deployments with minimal downtime using blue-green or canary release strategies.  

Enhance Monitoring and Security:

Ensure Accountability, Courage, Attention to Detail 

  • Monitor and analyze AWS spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement optimization strategies.
  • Set up and manage monitoring tools to track application performance and proactively address issues. 
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines and application infrastructures adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements. 

Foster Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:

Collaborate, Communication, Be Humble and Curious  

  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to streamline the integration of CI/CD processes into the software lifecycle. 
  • Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to forecast cloud budgets and improve cost visibility.
  • Share knowledge, document processes, and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous enhancement.

The Small Print:

This role requires collaboration across global teams and may involve working outside standard business hours to support critical deployments. Flexibility and adaptability are essential to meet the dynamic needs of a growing organisation. 

 

Requirements

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management tools (AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, etc.) and FinOps principles.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub CI/CD. 
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. 
  • Hands-on experience with containerisation platforms like Kubernetes and monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana. 
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
