The Analyst will support the daily oversight and operations of Horizon's Custom Portfolio Offering within the Investment Management team. This role combines investment analysis, portfolio management, trading, and performance reporting, with an emphasis on precision, process improvement, and collaboration across teams.
The Analyst will manage client account onboarding, support portfolio management processes, execute trades, produce performance analytics, and contribute to the development of product enhancements and operational workflows. The position provides exposure to the full investment process from research and trading to performance measurement, and offers opportunities for professional growth within a growing platform of customized investment solutions.
Essential Functions
Account Management & Onboarding
- Account review and onboarding processes, including proposal generation, portfolio analysis, and documentation.
- Drive workflow and process enhancements across onboarding, trading, and portfolio management.
Trading & Investment Research
- Assist in the preparation and execution of separately managed account (SMA) trades.
- Support portfolio managers in base model construction, replacement screening, and selection, including single-stock and factor-based analysis.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Produce quarterly and ad-hoc portfolio reports for base portfolios and client-specific requests.
- Conduct performance attribution analyses comparing products, benchmarks, and competitors.
- Manage the production and distribution of performance reporting via external databases, quarterly factsheets, and GIPS composites.
Communication & Collaboration
- Become a subject matter expert on the initiative's strategies and methodologies, presenting to internal sales teams and external advisors.
- Coordinate communication across departments to address product and service needs.
- Assist with due diligence questionnaires, requests for proposals, and vendor management.
Process Improvement
- Identify operational challenges and propose solutions to improve efficiency, data integrity, and scalability.
Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Familiarity with portfolio management systems and performance reporting tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex investment concepts clearly.
- Passion for financial markets and investing.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- This is an entry-level position on the Investment Management team; professional experience is preferred but not required.
- Desire to pursue or currently pursuing the CFA designation.
