High-Level Overview
The client is seeking a Senior Developer with deep expertise in Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) to shape the fund’s early-stage project pipeline and ensure readiness for execution. As the fund transitions from concept to fundraising and pipeline mobilization, this interim, fixed-term assignment will be pivotal in establishing a credible foundation for future investments.
Role and Responsibilities
Direct Report: Fund Manager or Head of Investments

Key Deliverables:
- Design/Systems: Contribute to the design and assessment of project frameworks, ensuring technical and commercial viability of early-stage opportunities.
- Pipeline Development: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize a pipeline of distributed renewable energy projects across Africa.
- Due Diligence: Lead early-stage project screening, feasibility assessments, and technical due diligence for potential investments.
- Execution Preparation: Support transaction readiness by coordinating technical inputs, risk assessments, and partnership development.
- Capability Building: Help establish internal systems and best practices for project origination, diligence, and pre-investment decision-making
Requirements
- Proven track record in developing DRE or off-grid renewable projects in African markets.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management -from origination through development and financial close.
- Experience working with funds, developers, or infrastructure platforms focused on renewable energy.
- Proficiency in project structuring, technical due diligence, and financial modeling for DRE projects.
- Familiarity with mini-grid, hybrid, and solar-plus-storage solutions.
- Knowledge of African regulatory and permitting environments for renewable project
- Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial approach and ability to operate in a start-up or pre-launch context.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Comfortable working autonomously while building early-stage frameworks and systems.
- Ability to manage parallel project evaluations and interface with technical, financial, and legal partners.
Location:Remote
Travel: Regional travel for project identification, partner engagement and site assessments

Start Date: Q1 2026 start
Contracting Period:6 months minimum; part time initially.
