Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in job costing and manufacturing accounting and will play a key role in supporting month-end and year-end close processes as well as day-to-day accounting operations. This individual should be adaptable, proactive, and willing to take on a variety of tasks to support the department’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Perform job costing analysis, ensuring accuracy of costs related to materials, labor, and overhead.
- Assist with inventory accounting, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and cycle count reviews.
- Prepare and maintain detailed general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and provide supporting documentation for audits.
- Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and production teams to ensure accurate cost accounting and reporting.
- Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
- Support the department with ad hoc projects and take on additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong job costing experience required.
- Hands-on experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems required.
- Excellent Excel skills are a must (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas, and data analysis).
- Solid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Backup Human resources as needed.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Epicor ERP modules specific to manufacturing and job costing.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with process improvement, Lean manufacturing, or cost reduction initiatives.
