Position Summary
Magruder Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Nursing to lead and oversee nursing operations across multiple departments. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for strategic planning, clinical excellence, staff development, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a visionary nurse leader who fosters a culture of collaboration, quality care, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Serve as a clinical liaison between executive leadership, providers, nursing leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Lead daily nursing operations across departments including Medical-Surgical, ICU, TCU, Emergency Services, Urgent Care, Occupational Health, Case Management, and Nursing Supervisors.
- Ensure 24/7 nursing coverage and continuity of care through effective leadership of nursing supervisors and directors.
- Coach and mentor nurse leaders to manage complexities and drive excellence at the point of care.
- Build strong relationships with physician leaders and hospital executives to support system-wide goals.
Clinical Excellence & Patient Care
- Design and implement evidence-based care delivery systems and workflows.
- Monitor patient care indicators and lead initiatives to improve quality, safety, and patient experience.
- Develop and approve clinical policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Guide staff actions through clear policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies.
- Stay current with healthcare legislation and advise leadership on necessary actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
Financial & Operational Management
- Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet organizational goals.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
