Location:   London or Edinburgh, United Kingdom (Flexible hybrid working)

Employment Type: Umbrella Contract (Inside IR35) to start ASAP

We are seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Manager to lead the successful migration of legacy systems to a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architecture. This strategic programme will play a key role in modernising core systems and may include the re-engineering of Excel-based financial or analytical models using Python or similar technologies to enhance scalability, performance, and maintainability.

In this role, you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the migration programme, ensuring it meets defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards. You will work closely with engineering, QA, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration, maintain data integrity, and deliver measurable business value.

The ideal candidate will combine technical acumen, cloud migration expertise, and strong stakeholder management to drive large-scale transformation within a complex, regulated environment.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the cloud migration programme, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality execution.
  • Define and implement the migration roadmap to GCP, including architecture planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the re-engineering of Excel-based financial or analytical models into Python or other technologies to enhance performance and maintainability.
  • Drive programme governance, running steering committees and stakeholder workshops to ensure alignment and transparency at all stages.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, QA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure delivery excellence, with minimal emphasis on UI/front-end components.
  • Ensure rigorous validation and reconciliation of migrated models and data against legacy outputs.
  • Maintain full compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Establish robust reporting frameworks to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans proactively.
  • Foster a collaborative, agile delivery culture, promoting continuous improvement and innovation across teams.

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • Proven experience managing large-scale cloud migration programmes, ideally involving GCP.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, analytical models, and data reconciliation processes.
  • Familiarity with Python-based solutions and modern data engineering practices.
  • Expertise in programme governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of GCP services such as Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent (preferred).

Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:

  • Previous experience leading large-scale on-prem to GCP migrations within retail banking or financial services.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in regulated financial environments with strong data governance requirements

To be considered for this role, you must already be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
