SUMMARY

Supervise and interact with children.  Greet members and their guests in a warm and friendly manner.  Maintain a safe and entertaining environment for children of members and their guests.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Ascertain that members accompany their children to and from the facility, signing them in and out each time.
• Maintain constant supervision of, and interaction with, the children.
• Keep children entertained with play, reading, toys, arts & crafts.
• Engage and interact positively with youth to encourage participation.
• Change diapers, provide snacks, and clean messes as necessary.
• Deal with any issues that may arise in a competent and patient manner.
• Maintain a safe environment for the children and other staff members.
• Clean and reorganize Mizner Kids at the end of each shift.
• Close all charges and have members sign chits as they arrive to pick up their children.
• Supervise and assist children at events including those schedules outside of normal operational hours.
• Ensure event spaces are clean, safe, and well-organized before, during, and after each program.
• Coordinate with other departments (e.g., housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance) to ensure seamless event operations and guest satisfaction.
• All employees are required to obtain and maintain valid CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire and must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.

• All other duties as assigned by the Youth Activities Supervisor.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. A sharp eye for possible safety issues and the ability to intervene swiftly and successfully.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees will need to be able to carry young children without difficulty, bend to assist children and clean up messes, and must possess an energy level sufficient to maintain supervision and interaction with children for the duration of the assigned shift. Employees will be working in a small, limited drop-in childcare facility on the Mizner Country Club property. Care must be taken to avoid creating or allowing any safety hazards to arise for children and other staff members. Spills and messes must be cleaned promptly, and small objects must be kept out of reach of babies and toddlers under the age of 3 years. Vigilant supervision of children is necessary to prevent accidents and to immediately intervene in potentially dangerous situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
