JOB SUMMARY
The chaplain ministers to hospital/hospice patients, families, medical staff, and the community at large. The chaplain serves as a member of the Medical Center’s multi-disciplinary team in providing comprehensive holistic health care. The chaplain performs pastoral care, educational and counseling services, and administrative duties. This position assists with selection, orientation, supervision, and continuing education of per diem chaplains. The Chaplain also supports Clergy and their associations to facilitate pastoral support and visitation of hospitalized parishioners. This position assists patients and in training of staff by providing information about advance medical directives and by assisting with the execution of the advance medical directive as requested by patients. This position practices the Heart of Hamilton philosophy of the Hamilton HealthCare System culture.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors Degree, Master of Divinity or equivalent from a theological seminary. 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred. 2 unit of CPE required.
Licensure: Ordained minister seeking denominational endorsement
Experience: One-year clinical pastoral educational residency or the equivalent, healthcare experience preferred
Skills: Good verbal and written skills. Demonstrates therapeutic capabilities of intervening during both crisis and non-crisis situations. Demonstrates compassion and caring skills for patients, families, associates, and medical staff, and an ability to assist patients with advance medical directives. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Maintains current Georgia Driver’s license and proof of valid auto insurance coverage
