Director, Custom Platforms

Csquare is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Director, Custom Platforms to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of our Digital Exchange and Customer Portal platforms.

The Director of Custom Platforms will provide strategic and technical leadership for a team of full stack developers, setting engineering standards, driving architectural decisions, and contributing directly to code development. The ideal candidate will blend strong people leadership with deep technical expertise in modern web technologies, cloud infrastructure, and scalable software design.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full stack engineers responsible for customer-facing digital platforms.
• Define and execute the engineering strategy for Centersquare’s Digital Exchange and Customer Portal systems.
• Architect and build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Angular, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Oversee design and integration of APIs, data systems, and back-end services using SQL Server, MongoDB, and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Guide modernization efforts, including the migration of identity management systems and enhancement of microservices architecture.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments leveraging Docker, Helm, ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
• Partner with product, network engineering, and operations teams to align technical execution with business strategy.
• Contribute to development efforts, code reviews, and architectural design as a senior technical leader.
• Promote engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
• Proven full stack expertise with:
• Front-End: Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript
• Back-End: Node.js, Koa, routing-controllers, Nunjucks
• Databases: SQL Server, MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB
• DevOps/Cloud: Microsoft Azure, Service Bus, Docker, Helm, ArgoCD, Kubernetes
• Testing/Automation: Mocha, SaltStack (or comparable tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible)
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, identity management, and microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated success leading Agile development teams and delivering enterprise-scale applications.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision and short-term execution.
