The AlphaSimplex Need
AlphaSimplex has a strong team of approximately 45 professionals, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to experience working within an accounting department. Our small accounting team touches on many different accounting functionalities, is core to our mission, and interacts with excellent people across the firm.
General Characteristics/Position Objective
This position offers an opportunity to gain experience working directly with the Accounting and Finance Team as well as cross functionally with other departments in a fast paced environment. The position would be for 30 to 40 hours per week with the expectation that 2 to 3 days are spent in the office with the option to work remotely for the remainder.
Primary responsibilities
Support the Operations Manager with tasks related to Fund reconciliation:
Daily trade settlement, corporate actions, and trade break resolution
Broker and Fund Admin reconciliations (Cash, Positions, Transactions)
Archiving of paper and electronic records
Assist in Monthly and Quarterly reporting cycles
Assist in review of treasury functions
Assist the Controller with tasks related to the accounting for the Management Company including but not limited to:
Help enrich vendor data within the accounting software Quickbooks
Assist with a project to export and archive credit card purchase transaction details and reconcile charges by person back to the monthly invoices
Rework and improve excel schedules used to support the monthly close process
Assist with the implementation of a new Trade OMS system
Ad-hoc assignments and special projects
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles as well as investment industry
Proficient in Excel, knowledge of pivot tables
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people, ability to multi-task and prioritize
Preference to related college course experience and / or prior relevant work experience
Educational/Experience Requirements
Accounting, Business, Finance or similar major
Has completed introductory level Accounting courses and in process with intermediate level Accounting courses
GPA of 3.0 or higher
