POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Front-End Web Developer I will work closely with other Associates to identify opportunities for creating and improving the digital services that we offer our Associates and Members. The position will be able to lead other developers by examples, communicate complex software designs in a simple manner, and organize the vast amount of information given through daily operations. Must have solid software engineering discipline and good problem-solving skills.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Perform software development and maintenance on websites and members facing UI/UX components.
  • Review requirements and design components by introducing best practice examples.
  • Lead continuous and incremental refactoring efforts by providing insightful code review feedback to other Software Engineers.
  • Design and create engineering specifications for software programs and applications.
  • Understand secure system design and coding concepts.
  • Apply DevOps practices to the SDLC to improve team productivity and reduce errors.
  • Assess requirements, specifications, and provide accurate level of effort estimates.
  • Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to continuously improve service.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • This position is currently hybrid-eligible, with the expectation of three days pre-assigned on-site attendance. This role requires California residency and living within a 50-mile commute of our headquarters.
  • May be a disaster recovery team member or take directives from a disaster team recovery member.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience / Training / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Web Developer or Software Engineer working with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-scale business solutions and frictionless member / user experiences.
  • Experience using Google Tag Manager or other pixel tracking services.
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems such as Optimizely.
  • UI / UX Design principles for clients facing websites.
  • Working experience of micro-services (REST/SOAP or JSON/XML) and/or API experience.
  • Working knowledge of code repository and version control (such as Git).
  • Experience in a financial institution is a plus.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Must have strong software development skills (design, implementation, and testing) and be able to adopt new programming languages quickly.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks (such as React).
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML5 & CSS.
  • Good understanding of Agile software development and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to solve complex requirements with straight forward, elegant solutions.
  • Knowledge of credit union rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing and excellent telephone manner. 
  • Ability to speak and hear to give and receive instructions and information to others in person and over the telephone. Other language skills are helpful.
  • Intermediate to advanced personal computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft programs and other leading business/collaboration tools.

 

 

The targeted hourly rate range is $35.34 per hour to $44.18 per hour.

Final offer will be determined based on experience, education, training/certifications and specialized skills.
