The Documentation Specialist Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in supporting the healthcare team by delivering quality clinical care and ensuring accurate, thorough documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. This position combines clinical responsibilities—such as administering nursing care, immunizations, and patient education—with detailed charting and administrative tasks to maintain complete and compliant medical records.

The Documentation Specialist CMA serves as a critical link between patients, providers, and clinic staff by collecting and verifying medical information, obtaining prior authorizations, entering lab and diagnostic orders, and scanning necessary documentation. Additionally, this role assists in coordinating patient care, managing referrals, supporting provider workflow, and helping maintain an efficient and safe clinical environment. The CMA is expected to demonstrate professionalism, clinical competency, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Required:

• National CMA certification
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification

Preferred:

• One (1) year of practice expertise as a CMA giving patient care.
