We are currently recruiting for With-Profits Technical Actuary to join our With-Profits Modernisation Programme to act as a subject matter expert, applying deep technical & business knowledge to aid senior management decision making.
Phoenix is the second largest provider of with-profits business in the UK with 22 With-Profits Funds. The With-Profits Management area is undertaking a large strategic programme to transform our with-profits funds, ensuring we deliver good outcomes for our with-profits customers.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a significant change programme that will deliver structural changes to with-profit funds such as fund mergers, buying out blocks of business, internal reinsurance and product simplification with the aim of improving customer outcomes and modernising our with-profits business.
Key Responsibilities
- Use your actuarial expertise to develop proposals and solutions for the Modernisation Programme, ensuring the needs of with-profits customers are met.
- Liaise with other departments and professionals both internal and external to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the Modernisation Programme.
- Contribute to the specification, development and testing of complex propositions or numerical models, analysing a range of business data, making recommendations to Senior Actuaries and/or senior management to support decision making.
- Contribute to the preparation of papers and reports for senior management as required, with suitable supervision.
- Lead small scale projects or elements of large scale more complex projects to support the business.
- Communicate effectively with a technical actuarial audience and simplify communications of technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Regularly working to defined and tight timescales whilst maintaining professional standards.
- Balancing business demand, issues and risks by applying sound judgement in complex scenarios, often with considerable uncertainty.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Qualified Actuary with experience in the life insurance industry.
Desirable
- Experience of contributing to or leading projects to deliver strategic change, ideally in relation to with-profits business
- With-profits experience including a deep understanding of risks and issues associated with managing with-profits policies in run off.
