Covia is looking for a dynamic Quality Control Supervisor who will have a positive impact on our QC teams at the Wedron/Troy Grove, IL locations. The Quality Control Supervisor is accountable to implement and maintain QMS system across three sites. Additionally, oversees quality of incoming and outgoing materials from the plants and assists and monitors process control and product development.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Implement, monitor, and ensure the usage of all ISO 9000 and other quality related functions.
- Perform and investigate functions by either an internal or external customer non-conformance.
- Experience supervising lab personnel
- Determine root causes of problems using root cause investigation and implement corrective actions
- Investigate and address all quality inquiries made by customers and sales.
- Liaison with customers, sales, and production to provide each of these entities with requested quality documentation. This includes providing requesting customers with specific SPC and statistical data concerning the products they use if needed.
- Ensure products can meet customer specifications upon approval
- Ability to perform the following tests: Sieve Analysis, Density, 3 Minute Hot Tensile, Melt Point, Cold Tensile, Loose, Peel, Flowability, Wettability, QCCS, QCCS V2, LOI, Microscope Analysis, ASTM D-1210, D-1281, D-1208, TAPPI T-452, Etc.
- Manage grades and specifications in the quality management system
- Perform in-house calibrations on laboratory equipment as well as manage calibrations for products calibrated by an outside vendor
- Manage calibration schedules and all paperwork pertaining to them
- Manage lab supplies
- Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- College graduate or equivalent. On the job training is required.
- A fundamental understanding of mathematics and statistical tools.
- A good background in computer skills and related software.
- Knowledge of the quality testing procedures and equipment used within foundry and construction industries.
- Fundamental knowledge of various quality programs such as ISO9000
- Communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to interface with customers, plant personnel, and corporate QC department.
- Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver set targets.
