This position, reporting directly to the Accounting Projects Supervisor, will be a key contributor to technology-driven projects and process improvement efforts, research and analysis, and other tasks as assigned. A successful individual in this position needs to have a strong technical acumen, have a proactive mindset, be able to work with a wide range of individuals across the organization and keep stakeholders (at all levels) informed.

This position demands a balance of independent initiative and collaborative execution, with a focus on leveraging technology to optimize processes, enhance data integrity, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about continuous learning in a fast-evolving digital environment. Additionally, this role will need project management, problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Key responsibilities include leading project initiatives, preparing various SAP/SOX audit reviews, identifying & implementing process improvements, and developing analytical solutions. This position requires close collaboration with cross functional project resources including accounting, finance, and IT ensuring completion of project objectives. All actions and decisions must align with the Company’s values and culture.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently lead and manage cross functional projects/initiatives
  • Preparation of project planning documents and execution on the project plan to achieve objectives within desired milestones
  • Lead and execute complex cross-functional, technology focused, process improvement initiatives
  • Respond to audit requests and coordinate audit activities, as appropriate
  • Identify and recommend best practices and improvements to processes by proactively looking for opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting
  • Influence and communication to various stakeholders
  • Demonstrate understanding of common business/accounting processes and applications across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a hybrid and/or primary work environment
  • Maintains and fosters a high level of vigilance and awareness for cyber security risks
  • Other general duties as assigned

COMPUTER/SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS:

  • Competent in computer literacy. Expertise with common business applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Project, etc.). 
  • Ability to learn and lead adoption of new and changing systems and applications. 
  • Understanding of power user support model. 
  • Working knowledge of (or appetite to learn) SAP – General Navigation/FICO, Data Cube/Warehouse, Well Master, WellView, Aucerna, Microsoft Power BI, and Alteryx along with an understanding of Denodo, Data Catalog, DB Beaver, Azure DevOps, and Visio.

  • Effective risk identification and mitigation through SOX control reviews
  • Identify and communicate cross-functional impacts of a change in processes
  • Acquisition & divestiture coordination

TYPICAL EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field of study is a plus

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant work experience with oil and gas experience preferred.  
  • CPA or other relevant professional credentials and certifications a plus.

LOCATION/WORK SCHEDULE: Denver – Hybrid work schedule with ability to commute to the Denver office on short notice and as needed to support business requirements. Days in the office will vary based on assigned projects.
