Senior Analyst, Asset Management - Renewables (Solar)

Reports To: Director, Asset Management - Renewables (Solar)
Direct Reports: No Functional Unit: Asset Management
FLSA Status: Exempt Position Type: Full-Time

THE CHALLENGE
Responsible for supporting the day-to-day and long-term commercial aspects of assigned solar power plant portfolio. The successful candidate will assist in the identification, planning and implementation of projects that enhance asset value in close collaboration with several teams across the company, including Operations, Development, Power Markets and Origination (PMO), and Capital Markets. Reporting to the Director, Asset Management, the employees� responsibilities will include:
- Financial Management
- Coordinate with Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure timely preparation of project budgets and reforecasts, and monthly operating reports with accurate explanations of variances to budget.
- Interface with lenders and tax equity partners relating to consents or other matters, including distributions of operating reports and responses to project performance questions.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Payable, Accounting and Treasury teams to ensure payments for project invoices, including payments relating to financing, real estate, property tax, permits, and regulatory matters, are properly approved and processed in a timely manner.
- Support renewing insurance policies and managing claims, including coordination with insurance brokers.
- Operations Management
- Work with the Operations, Performance, Engineering, and Procurement teams to understand operational issues that affect financial performance and help advance solutions that either improve plant efficiency/longevity or resolve technical issues.
- Develop cost/benefit analyses for proposed project expenditures or capital improvements to support the approval process. Participate in the implementation of the approved plan, including coordination with off-takers, interconnecting utilities, ISOs, and other key stakeholders, as needed.
- Support internal teams, including Operations and Procurement, in negotiations with project vendors and service suppliers to reduce operating expenses and/or improve services.
- Contractual and Regulatory Management
- Support management of all project agreements, by working with internal teams, including Legal, as needed, to ensure compliance and to protect the best interests of the projects.
- Work with the PMO team to support the management of existing Power Purchase Agreements and future re-contracting efforts.
- Maintain relationships with key project stakeholders, including local engagement and public relations programs, to protect investor�s interests in assets, and efficiently resolve differences or disputes as they may arise.
- Support tax filing, regulatory reporting, and compliance efforts, as needed.
- Optimizing Asset Value
- Support the development of asset plans for assigned projects, that identify opportunities for asset optimization, determine how to address downside risks, and include project management schedules for plan execution.
- Evaluate project models and work with internal teams, including capital markets, to support quarterly updates that include known variances and probability adjusted upside opportunities or downside risks.
- Assist in the diligence, acquisition and integration of new investments that the company makes, including development and expansion opportunities at existing projects.

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED
- Willingness to be coached and mentored by experienced Asset Manager.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
- Basic understanding of fundamental power generation concepts, including:
- Solar power plant design and operation.
- Familiarity with various project agreements including power purchase, interconnection, operations & maintenance, asset management, real estate, and financing agreements.
- Ability to think critically, analyze complex problems with no clear solutions, exercise good judgment, defend conclusions before senior management and make sound decisions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid or remote environment demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
- Ability to interact and communicate well with individuals in all areas of the Company and outside vendors.
- Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity in all dealings inside and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and various other business applications.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
