Hastings College seeks a customer-focused and detail-oriented Financial Aid Counselor to guide students and families through the financial aid process. As a key member of the Financial Aid team, the Counselor is responsible for providing high-quality customer service , ensuring compliance with financial aid regulations , and awarding and processing student aid. This individual will manage student records , collect necessary documentation for federal Title IV eligibility , and maintain files in accordance with federal guidelines. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional with exceptional communication and customer service skills, committed to supporting student success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service, phone, 1:1 in person meetings, email to both current students and also incoming students (when requested by Admissions), as well as parents when applicable
  • Awarding, processing and disbursing aid for students: institutional, federal, state or other outside scholarships
  • Import and reviewing all documents that come from all federal systems: MPN, entrance and exit counseling, ISIR's, transfer monitoring
  • Collect documents for verification or any other required documents in order to confirm Title IV eligibility
  • Maintain files, records and reporting in accordance with federal guidelines (ie monthly reconciliation)
  • Create, update and maintain financial aid forms, public website page for financial and aid the office's OurHC page
  • Assist with the management of student records in PowerFAIDs (College Board product) and keeping them up to date, accurate and in compliance to both federal and institutional policies
  • Prepare materials, reports, correspondence and generate reports and spreadsheets

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of one year of experience in customer service; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
