The commercial development internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of commercial real estate development, from market analysis and site selection to financial modeling and project management. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, have strong analytical skills, and be passionate about the real estate industry. At the conclusion of the program, interns will deliver a comprehensive presentation with observations and recommendations to leadership and other program participants. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Market Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to assess trends in the commercial real estate sector, including supply and demand dynamics, rental rates, vacancy rates, and competitor analysis.

Financial Analysis & Modeling:

  • Assist in developing financial models and proformas for potential development projects, including cash flow projections, cost estimates, and return on investment (ROI) calculations.

Site Evaluation:

  • Support the team in identifying and evaluating potential sites for commercial development, including conducting site visits and assessing zoning, access, and feasibility.

Due Diligence Support:

  • Help compile and review due diligence documents for new projects, including legal, environmental, and financial information.

Project Management Assistance:

  • Assist with tracking project timelines, budgets, and milestones, ensuring that projects stay on track and within scope.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation to support decision-making processes and project updates.

Collaboration & Networking:

  • Participate in team meetings, client discussions, and site visits, interacting with developers, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders.

EDUCATION

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field.

TALENTS

  • Ability to network, present presentations to colleagues, and support the department in field events.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
  • Familiarity with real estate financial concepts such as capitalization rates, IRR (Internal Rate of Return), and NPV (Net Present Value) is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
