As a Production Supervisor you are responsible for supervising plant employees during the production process of L.B. Foster products while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while diagnosing and solving problems and identifying areas for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee production employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including safety, quality and environmental
  2. Organizes, supervises, leads, and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe
  3. Supervise facility to ensure a safe and clean atmosphere maintaining 5S standards.
  4. Manage product production schedule to ensure production actual is attained.
  5. Ensure that all materials are visually checked to maintain high quality standards
  6. Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards
  7. Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify operators and/or maintenance of any malfunctions.
  8. Interacts with management to report status, address challenges, and resolve discrepancies.
  9. Identifies and captures continuous improvement opportunities.
  10. Control workflow to ensure the effective use of resources (labor, tools, equipment) and maximum use of available capacity.
  11. Work closely with maintenance and quality teams to ensure any issues are recognized and addressed.
  12. Maintain production and shipping schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  13. Manage inventory by comparing inventory computations with physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies
  14. Perform root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why method and communicate findings with impacted employees.

Experience, Education & License Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment, pipe coating experience a plus
  • 1 year of people management experience

Skills & Abilities:

  • Self-motivated and driven to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data to make adjustment in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve problems.
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S
  • Inventory control management experience
