Duties
- Demonstrates competency in the provision of care according to established standards.
- Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
- Prepares plans for discharge.
- Coordinates with interdisciplinary team on resident needs, treatment modifications, and progress; applying appropriate standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for residents.
- Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Control standards.
Requirements
- Graduate from an approved school of occupational therapy required.
- State license to practice occupational therapy required.
- Two years’ experience in occupational therapy preferred.
- Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach.
- Ability to direct others necessary.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.
- Current, valid CPR/BLS credential
- Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required.
- Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others required.
- Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
- Familiarity with early intervention practices and patient care techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
