The Director of Fulfillment Operations will lead all aspects of Mood’s production and fulfillment engine. This role oversees light manufacturing (assembly, kitting, packaging, labeling), distribution center operations, inventory control, and outbound shipping, ensuring compliant, efficient, and scalable processes. The ideal candidate has deep experience in manufacturing-lite or assembly-driven distribution environments, brings an engineering mindset to problem-solving, and thrives in fast-paced, regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead Mood’s production and distribution operations, including assembly, packaging, inventory management, and outbound logistics.
- Partner with finance to develop operational P&L, including annual budgeting and forecasting, and collaborate on financial performance management.
- Develop and execute long-term operational strategies to support national expansion and sustainable growth.
- Lead capital planning and execution of CAPEX initiatives, including facility expansion, equipment acquisition, and automation upgrades.
- Drive automation initiatives by evaluating, selecting, and implementing advanced technologies across production and distribution to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality.
- Identify and champion operational innovations that strengthen Mood’s competitive advantage in a regulated, high-growth industry.
- Establish and enforce operational policies, SOPs, compliance standards, and safety protocols in alignment with regulatory requirements and company values.
- Partner with Growth, Marketing, Compliance, Supply Chain, and Data leadership to align operational capacity, production planning, and distribution resources with enterprise goals.
- Oversee facility layout, capacity planning, and equipment strategy to ensure readiness for future growth.
- Define and monitor KPIs, conduct trend analysis, and lead root-cause investigations to ensure continuous improvement and operational discipline.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of managers, supervisors, and associates, fostering a culture of accountability, compliance, and innovation.
- Manage distribution center vendor, carrier, and supplier relationships, ensuring optimal contract performance, service quality, and cost management.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks while ensuring long-term resilience and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, assembly, or distribution environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of operational P&L, with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Proven success in capital planning and execution of CAPEX initiatives, including facility expansion and automation projects.
- Experience leading automation and technology adoption initiatives in production and distribution settings.
- Strong expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with ERP and warehouse management systems integrating manufacturing and distribution functions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of compliance, safety, and quality standards; familiarity with GMP, ISO, or FDA-regulated environments preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to operate effectively as part of an executive leadership team.
