About The Position:
Parks Payroll Accountant. This position will report to the Payroll Supervisor
Seattle Parks and Recreation is seeking a candidate for Payroll Accountant to serve in the finance department, specifically the payroll department. We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional for this position to support the work in the payroll department, which requires an individual to meet deadlines in a timely manner. We serve a department of 1000+ employees across the City of Seattle. This position will report to the Payroll Supervisor of the department
Position Duties
- Prepares payroll/personnel documents and updates files to ensure proper and accurate employee, salary, and benefits information i.e., out-of-class pay, salary rates, fringe benefits, vacations and deductions.
- Auditing individual timesheets to ensure that the proper policices are being followed for the individual pay
- Understanding policies from different unions and City to ensure accurate information for payroll
- Prepares and reviews reports, forms, Payroll transactions, and other reports or documents required in assigned area.
- Working with Worker's Compensation and Human Resources to prepare any payment for employees under Worker's Compensation
- Compiles information and data required for the preparation of reports required in assigned area.
- Reconcile, review, verify and correct payroll entries, codes or documents prepared by others to ensure the accuracy of information.
- Provide support and help for employees in the department with any payroll related issues like direct deposit, tax documents, etc.
- Working with Human Resources Team to ensure accurate information of employee's record such as salary, benefits, etc.
- Performs others duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Other Qualifications
You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- Working Experience with Workday or HRIS/Payroll Financial system
- Working experience with Labor Unions
- Detailed Oriented
- Customer Service Oriented
Special Working Conditions and Work Schedule: Hybrid work schedule at home and office; 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule available.

The full salary range for this position is $42.65 to $49.67 per hour.
