Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director
Full-time, in-person requirement
HopeWest is in search of a full-time Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director - the position will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado with in-person requirements.
HopeWest is a nationally renowned non-profit hospice and palliative medicine organization.
The Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director (HPMD) is a board-certified physician with expertise in hospice and palliative care; providing clinical care, practice oversight, and leadership and management in accordance with state and federal practice law for patients in all hospice and palliative care settings.
The HPMD collaborates externally with attending physicians, specialists, and other providers as applicable for the purpose of coordination of care to effectively meet the medical, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient.
The HPMD collaborates internally with the interdisciplinary group (IDG) to ensure patient eligibility and recertification; the medical needs of the patient are met; the patient receives the appropriate measures to control symptoms through oversight of medications and treatments; and provides oversight of the plan of care and continuity for medical services.
The HPMD also provides the organizational functions relevant to medical team supervision and compliance by creation and execution of policies and procedures; appropriate staffing and resource utilization; onboarding of new medical staff members; championing quality improvements; liaising with hospice vendors/partners; and additional responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
HopeWest offers a salary range of $225,617-249,600/year for a full-time schedule with additional generous on-call stipends and benefits. Medical malpractice insurance is also provided at no charge that fully covers the work performed on behalf of HopeWest. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed M.D. or D.O. in the state of Colorado.
- Board Certification in in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and/or Hospice Medical Director Board Certification preferred.
COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:
- Controlled substance license with current DEA license number.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership & management experience.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
- Adequate automobile insurance.
- Eligible or currently possess a Medicare/Medicaid NPI number.
- Eligible or currently credentialed at local hospitals.
- Eligible to bill insurance for palliative care and symptom management visits.
