Facilities Technician – Full-time
HopeWest is a well-established non-profit organization that has a great opportunity for an experienced Facilities Technician. Come join our 400+ staff and be a part of our amazing Facilities Team that supports our organization with a home base in Grand Junction and occasional travel to our outlying offices in Western Colorado. The right person for this position will have the stamina to perform the physical, fast-paced needs while working with a tight knit team. This position has a primary schedule of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional weekend or after hours needs and an on-call rotation offering additional pay.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Facilities Technician performs a variety of duties that are required to maintain buildings, grounds, equipment, furnishing, and facility systems throughout HopeWest. This includes inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and all the required documentation and communication related to each task. This position shares evening, night, and weekend on call to be available for urgent needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Working of knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
- Adequate automobile insurance.
COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintains knowledge of OSHA and Life Safety requirements.
- Ability to use computer systems for documentation, monitoring, and management of key systems.
- Demonstrates effective teamwork and communication skills.
- Demonstrates adherence to workplace safety.
- Travel required between locations.
- Able to work in a variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – Heavy Work:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Subject to both environmental conditions – activities occur inside and outside and will include driving.
- Subject to a variety of physical conditions within individual patient homes: safety issues may include basic home safety, fire safety, environmental safety, and bathroom safety.
- Subject to occasional exposure to hazards associates with blood and potentially infectious materials.
- Subject to occasional exposure to hazardous substance and hazardous waste, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, and may be exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
- Will occasionally work outside in unpredictable weather conditions which may include exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold or heat, and wind.
