THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the VP of Finance and Administration, the Director, Facilities & Real Estate Operations is a key member of the Canadian Leadership Team. You will lead a team of five professionals overseeing new clinic development, relocations, remodels, facilities operations, and lease management across the national portfolio.

 

As the senior leader for real estate operations, you will also:

  • Present network and store development initiatives at executive and leadership meetings.
  • Provide weekly project updates to senior leadership and Head Office staff.
  • Continuously refine the national network and store development strategy to optimize growth, efficiency, and client experience.
  • Act as the primary liaison with HearingLife’s global real estate teams, ensuring alignment on concepts, standards, and best practices.
  • This is a high-impact role where you will influence strategic direction, drive operational excellence, and deliver results that shape the organization’s future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and mentor a team of five professionals across project management, analytics, lease administration, and geo-mapping.
  • Develop and execute an annual roadmap of real estate and facilities initiatives, including relocations, remodels, greenfield developments, and renovation projects.
  • Present strategic and operational updates to executive leadership, ensuring visibility and alignment on network initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Finance, and global colleagues to maximize synergies and ensure portfolio optimization.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine network development strategies to adapt to market conditions and organizational priorities.

 

Network Analysis

  • Identify and prioritize new market opportunities to support HearingLife’s growth objectives.
  • Conduct network assessments to ensure balanced representation in key and emerging markets.
  • Perform demographic, socioeconomic, and competitive analyses to guide data-driven site selection and clinic placement.
  • Contribute to the CapEx budget process and track performance against strategic targets.

 

Project Execution – New Clinics, Remodels, Relocations, Restorations

  • Partner with brokers to identify optimal spaces and negotiate favorable lease terms.
  • Manage due diligence for new sites, including zoning, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee design and construction, ensuring all projects meet brand standards and are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Provide clear weekly project updates to leadership and Head Office teams, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigations.
  • Leverage project management tools (e.g., Asana) to manage timelines, streamline execution, and drive accountability.

 

Facilities Management

  • Direct all facilities repair and maintenance requests, setting budgets, service levels, and priorities.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing vendor network for cost-effective service delivery.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programs to extend asset life and ensure lease compliance.

 

Lease Administration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, landlords, and property managers.
  • Negotiate lease renewals to secure favorable terms, including inducements, fixturing periods, equipment replacement, and rights of first refusal.
  • Maintain and report on critical lease data (expiry dates, renewal options, obligations) through LeaseEagle for proactive portfolio management.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • University degree in a relevant field
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in retail real estate and facilities management, including budget ownership
  • 2–5 years of team leadership experience with a proven ability to develop and inspire talent
  • Demonstrated expertise in vendor and stakeholder relationship management (contractors, brokers, landlords, and partners)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership
  • PMP designation an asset
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint; Asana experience preferred
