Position Overview:
The Licensing and Installation Specialist will be responsible for supporting SSI Schaefer in maintaining compliance with state and local licensing requirements across multiple U.S. jurisdictions. This is a part-time consultative role of the project execution organization. This role plays a pivotal function in enabling SSI Schaefer to act as a licensed General Contractor, Electrical Contractor, and Conveyor/Material Handling Installer, thereby supporting large-scale installation projects and strategic partnerships in various states.
The role will act as a qualifier where required, secure and maintain contractor licenses in designated states, including Mississippi and Delaware, with further expansion across identified markets, and serve as the internal subject matter expert on licensing compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the designated Qualifying Party for SSI Schaefer contractor licenses, including General Contractor, Electrical Contractor, and Conveyor/Material Handling licenses as required.
- Research, obtain, and maintain required licenses in the U.S. states where SSI Schaefer operates, including (Mississippi, Delaware, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut).
- Ensure renewals, continuing education, and ongoing requirements are met without lapses.
- Stay updated on state and municipal regulatory changes impacting construction and installation licensing.
- Support SSI Schaefer’s eligibility to bid on and execute installation projects requiring licensed contractor status.
- Guide on licensing implications for new service offerings and partnerships.
- Advise on compliance aspects of installation projects, ensuring proper permitting and licensed supervision.
- Advise project managers and field installation teams to integrate licensing into project planning and execution.
- Advise on subcontractor licensing requirements and coordinate third-party compliance where applicable.
Additional Responsibilities: Act as a liaison with state licensing boards and external stakeholders to resolve compliance or qualification issues.
Qualification Requirements:
- Valid or the ability to obtain contractor license(s) (General Contractor, Electrical, or related discipline) with eligibility to serve as a Qualifier in Mississippi, Delaware, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, or more U.S. states.
- Proven experience navigating state licensing requirements, particularly in construction, electrical contracting, or material handling industries.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage applications, renewals, and compliance tracking across jurisdictions.
- Ability to liaise effectively with state boards, legal teams, and internal leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
