CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer I opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.
Location: Buffalo, NY
Duration: 6 months
Overview:
Seeking a Mainframe Developer with hands-on experience in COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and CICS. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting applications, evaluating client requirements, and preparing technical solutions across diverse platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform systems analysis, design, development, and testing.
Resolve issues, recommend solutions, and support day-to-day application needs.
Prepare technical specifications and documentation.
Lead small to medium project tasks and assist less experienced staff.
Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and development standards.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Works under the supervision of a Technology Team Lead, independently handles analysis and development, and may lead or train junior staff.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
May direct or mentor less experienced staff on small to medium efforts.
Education and Experience Required:
Mainframe: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS
Tools: File Aid, Panvalet, CA7, Xpediter
Associate’s degree + 4 years’ development experience, or 6 years’ combined education/work experience (including 4 years development).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple moderately complex projects.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of Bank application framework and integrated systems.
Subject matter expertise in supported applications.
Ability to work independently or in teams, multitask, and take initiative.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
